I’m a sucker for coordinating my outfits with Zelda. Usually it happens accidentally, but when shopping for fall this season I have had so much fun finding matching pieces for us. Buru takes the twinning game to a whole new level, with rad pieces for both moms and minis. Be sure to check out the site this week because they are having a HUGE Labor Day Sale! Both of our outfits are featured, and Buru is offering an additional 35% off all clearance through the long weekend ahead.

Zelda isn’t the only one rocking a topknot in our house. I love it because it’s effortless and life as a mom pretty much requires my hair to be up and out of my face. I wish I could take credit for my braid, but Amanda from Blohaute is my hair guru. Her Chicago based company has changed my life, she does in home blowouts and braids, making it possible for Mom to actually get her hair done. This style rocks because my hair stays out of my face (key for anyone managing a toddler) and I can typically keep it looking good for up to four days with a bit of dry shampoo!

I also began the hunt for fall lip colors, and while searching I stumbled upon Octer. It’s a new shopping site and I love how it aggregated a ton of lips from around the web in one spot, making it easy to compare them side by side. Ultimately I went for MAC Vampify gloss in Moderne Drama, and I love it!

Since becoming a mom my style has taken on more of a “uniform” approach. This does not mean that I wear the same outfit everyday — I stick to a palette and have key pieces that are easy to mix and match. When it comes to getting dressed it should be simple and the goal is to look effortlessly chic. Prints have a hard time making their way into my closet, they typically get put on a waiting list and rarely make it into the club….until now! I love the print on print trend, it eliminates the frustration and hassle of spending 20 minutes trying to find the “perfect” piece to pair back with the print and I definitely get more use out of these pieces. Print on print for the win! Trying this trend is a must.

We haven’t quite mastered our hair flow yet, when I try to brush or style Zelda’s hair she turns into a fish out of water, and braiding or even just putting it into a ponytail is a production. It’s complicated more by the fact that she has super fine hair, which is notoriously hard to work with. Our hair battles have led us to test an endless amount of products and I am currently crushing on So Cozy. We are big fans of the leave in conditioner and detangling spray, they make things so much easier!

I’ve also learned the magic and ease of the topknot, requiring only a rubber band and a bobby pin, something I usually have on hand all the time. Last week I had a brilliant idea to start doing her hair while she was in a deep sleep. After she is 30 minutes into nap mode I am usually golden! I DO NOT recommend this for a light sleeper, a nap is a necessity and I would take messy hair over a babe without a nap any day!
