A few weeks ago Zelda and I decided to take a little pre-summer girls’ getaway to Beverly Hills, and we had the most amazing time! Not only did we make memories that I’ll treasure forever, but I found something so sought after, so elusive even I still can’t really believe it. A kid friendly hotel. One where you and your babe will have a blast, and the staff is something that you thought only existed in dreams. Mamas, it’s not a dream, the Beverly Hilton is real.

A Sweet Arrival
After a quick check in and a little running around the sprawling lobby (hey we’d been sitting for the past 5 hours, could you blame us?!) we headed up to our room. Perched on the bed waiting to greet Zelda was a special Beverly Hilton Teddy Bear, which prompted a squeal from her followed by a lightning quick scaling of the bed to give her newfound friend a tight squeeze. Teddy accompanied us on various adventures around the hotel during our stay, and that hasn’t changed since we’ve returned home.
We were still freaking out over Teddy when there was a knock at the door. I opened it expecting our luggage, but instead found an order of cupcakes that were plated on a chocolate tray. Yes you read that right, cupcakes arrived at our door. And with gorgeous weather and a view overlooking the city, we simply had to eat them outside on our patio. In our day to day I don’t let Zelda eat sweets like this, but these pretty cupcakes definitely deserved a pass. You didn’t have to tell Zelda twice, she was sitting pretty, alfresco with the vanilla one smeared all over her face and hands in record time. She also sampled toppings from the three that were left on the tray (which was a delicious chocolatey treat in itself!).

Hospitality
Our entire stay at this hotel was wonderful, but this aspect of it really put this place on another level in my book. The Beverly Hilton’s entire staff is amazing. They are a super kind, genuine, friendly bunch that makes you feel like you’re family. I have stayed many places and nothing comes close to the BH. When you’re traveling with kids it can sometimes feel as though you’re intruding when staying at a hotel, especially when the place you thought looked magical on your computer/phone screen turns out to be beyond stuffy. Not the Beverly Hilton, this place is a mama’s dream.
After breakfast one morning, we stopped by the spa because I thought we would try to get manicures by the pool. I knew that I had to get a manicure without a doubt but Zelda was a wildcard. We’d never tried to give her one before and had no idea how she would feel about it. When I inquired about an appointment for us both at the spa our tech could not have been sweeter, there was no skepticism about trying to get an almost two year old to sit still, just smiles and excitement. We got situated at a cabana and the tech got started on my nails, with Zelda watching intently. After seeing how my nails were done, she started to mimic the brushing on her doll! I knew this was a good sign, so after we were finished Zelda picked a polish of her own and chilled like a pro. There was no fidgeting, no pulling away or screaming just pure awe from myself and our tech, we could not believe it!

I really think Zelda’s attitude had something to do with our amazing nail tech, she was so kind and calming and really made the experience exactly what it’s supposed to be, for both myself and Zelda! Due to that first amazing manicure, Zelda’s obsession is still going strong. She constantly asks to have her nails done and sits perfectly still while you work. And when you’re done with her fingers, she’ll promptly place her feet in your lap!

Pool
This babe’s desire to swim topped everything else. It really was next level, I mean I knew she liked to swim but I can’t tell you how many times I had to get up mid-meal to stop Zelda from getting in the pool fully clothed. When it was time to hit the water Zelda’s smile could not have been bigger! The fact that the giant pool was heated brought a smile larger than Zelda’s to my face, because even if that water would have been ice cold it would not have mattered, this mama was going to have to get in.

Another great aspect of the Beverly Hilton’s pool was that they have cabanas you can reserve which are totally worth it. It allowed us to spread out a bit and get comfortable, but it also gave us a great spot to chill. When we needed a break from pretending to be fish we just hopped out and lounged on the daybed for a bit til Zelda had recharged and then it was back into the water!

I mentioned above that I had to chase Zelda (with Teddy in hand) around the pool perimeter multiple times during meals, that’s because we chose to eat breakfast out by the pool, because guess who refused to eat elsewhere?! At first we weren’t too sure because the mornings can be a bit chilly, but once we got out into the fresh air we were quickly convinced Zelda had made a good call. Seeing that we were a bit put off by the chill, the hotel staff quickly brought over a few outdoor heaters for us making it a great way to start out our mornings. I really cannot stress enough how amazing the Beverly Hilton’s staff is, I was blown away by their genuine kindness multiple times throughout our stay.

For breakfast, we opted for the buffet each morning because it had so much to offer and was in no way lacking with kid friendly options for Zelda. The menu changed each day so we kept finding new favorites and couldn’t wait to see what the next meal held! Some of our favorites were the omelet bar, fresh squeezed juice and fruit. There may or may not have been a few macaroons consumed before noon, but hey, it’s vacation!
