1. How many children do you have? What inspired their names?
I have a baby daughter named Elodie. She’s almost 11 months. Her name was inspired by a lot of things: My love of anything French, the letter E, I love the melodic sound of her name, I love the short names Ellie and Elle. It was just the perfect name for her!
2. What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family?
With our crazy schedules we make sure that Sunday is “family day” and devote time to doing things as a family. Typically we keep it simple and take a short road trip to the beach and walk along the coast. Then we head to a bakery and get coffee and brunch. It’s a sweet little tradition.
3. Are there any children’s brands you find yourself buying over and over again?
I actually love BabyGap & GapKids. I think they do a phenomenal job at creating baby clothes that are stylish and not too expensive (plus they have great sales all the time). When I want specialty items I tend to go for Stella McCartney Kids, Atsuyo et Akiko, WovenPlay, Tutu de Monde, Bobo Choses and Freshly Picked.
4. How has motherhood affected your personal style?
I think I surprise people with how casual my style is. On Glitter Guide things are always so fun, colorful and glam. I do love that on a special occasion. However, day-to-day I dress very effortless. Jeans, a tee, and flats. Motherhood hasn’t changed it all that much except for now that casual way of dressing is a lot more functional.
5. What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
Seeing her grow is amazing. I love watching her discover new things and how proud she is to show me. Also, mommy cuddles are pretty much the best thing in the entire world.
6. What’s the hardest thing about being a mom?
There are two big things that come to mind for me. One is the juggle of being a mom and trying to do anything else. You have very little time for work, friends, and your significant other. You really have to schedule time for those things. I’ve always been someone who values alone time too, and right now I don’t get too much of that. The second thing is that it’s really hard to wear your heart on your sleeve. You love your child more than anything in the entire world so it makes you feel very vulnerable.
7. Has your beauty routine changed at all since you’ve had kids?
Yes! Since being pregnant I’ve tried to use more organic beauty products (when I can). I also keep everything super simple. I wear the bare minimum makeup I can get away with and I never blow-dry and style my hair unless I have an event. It’s all about letting it dry naturally and top knots (thank goodness they are both ‘in’ right now).
8. What have you learned from your kids?
To be patient. To appreciate the little things. To slow down and be present.
