Finding sunglasses can be a tricky task, but they are an essential accessory. While it might be hard not to join in on a current trend, sunglasses are not one trend fits all. The basis of sunglasses shopping is finding a shape that works for you, and working from there, whether it’s color, frame size or material.
I’m here to help you find your perfect pair! And better yet, I’m giving away a $200 Frames Direct gift card, so you have the chance to buy your perfect pair.

Shop: Vera Wang / Kate Spade
If your face has features like a strong jawline, broad forehead and a wide chin or cheekbones, you probably have a square shaped face. You’ll want to shop for frames that soften those features, stay away from angular and really boxy frames. They’ll look to harsh on you! Your best shapes are ones that are oval, rounded or even a cat eye! You can rock a semi rimless too.
WCIU_Sunglasses_Oblong
Shop: Gucci / Ray-Ban
If you have an oblong face, you’ll notice that your face is longer than it is wide. Your chin and cheeks will be more on the narrow side. Big, oversized styles as well as wraparounds are great options, as you’ll want to break up the length of your face. Proportion is key, this is all about finding styles are really narrow or accentuate the length of your face.
WCIU_Sunglasses_Round
Shop: Dolce & Gabbana / Marc by Marc Jacobs
Round faces feature full cheekbones and typically have very few angles. You’ll also notice that the width and length of your face are probably pretty close to being the same. I would recommend staying away from both round lenses and frames, it just accentuates your face shape and can be a bit much. What you’re going for here is a slimming effect, so rectangular and square shapes are great options for you.
WCIU_Sunglasses_Oval
Shop: Prada / Burberry
Is your chin a bit more narrow than your forehead? If so, you’ve got an oval shaped face! You’ve also hit the sunglasses lottery, so to speak, because you can basically wear any shape you choose! Again, keep proportion in mind here, and other than that, the skies the limit!
WCIU_Sunglasses_Heart
Shop: Prada / Michael Kors
If you have a heart shaped face, you’ll notice that you have high cheekbones, a narrow chin, and a forehead that’s a little bit wider. Go for frames that break up the width of your forehead, so look for elements like a little dip between the eyes, rounded frames and frames with a wider bottom are your go-tos! Aviators are great for you, as are rimless. I would stay away from top heavy and embellished pairs, it’s just too much!
