These Poison Apples are hard to resist! With a delicious candy coating it’s no wonder these were such a hit at my Halloween party. To make these you need 6 Granny Smith apples (washed and dried), cooking spray, 1 ¾ cups apple cider, ½ cup brandy, 2/3 cup cinnamon candies, 1 ¾ cups sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, ½ tablespoon baking powder, ¼ cup brown sugar, and wooden skewer sticks.
Begin by thoroughly washing and drying your apples. Set aside. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
Next, in a saucepan, combine 1 ¾ cups apple cider and ½ cup brandy; bring to a boil. Cook until this mixture is reduced to 1 cup (about 15 minutes). Add 2/3 cup cinnamon candies to the pan, stirring until melted. Mix in 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1 ¾ cups sugar, ½ tablespoon baking powder, and ¼ cup brown sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Cook without stirring for another 10 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes.
Place the wooden skewers through the top of the apples near the stem. Dip the apples into the candy syrup and then place on the prepared baking sheet. Allow the apples to cool and set. Serve your friends poison apples!
