It’s the weekend! If you still need some things to do look no further (some of these even go beyond the weekend). Isn’t it so amazing that it’s basically summertime in Chicago? I think we’ve earned it! Now get out there and don’t take it for granted.
This is a post by Glitter and Bubbles that shows parents what activities they can do with their children throughout Chicago and Nashville.

Kids Cook After School: Instead of turning on Netflix after school, take the kids to a cooking class at Whole Foods in Lincoln Park. For an hour and a half your babe will get their hands dirty in the kitchen and learn how to whip up a delicious yogurt dressing that is the perfect complement to a fruit bowl. We think that sounds like the perfect after school plan! The class takes place on Tuesday, June 7th at $4:30p and it’s $20 per child.
Open Jump at Pump It Up: If your little has energy they need to burn off, let us introduce you to Pump It Up. This wonderland is filled with inflatables that kids can jump, run and play on, so let them! They offer an all ages open jump and we recommend that you reserve a spot in advance, because as you may have guessed, this fills up! Open jump happens at various times during the week so you can pick the best time for your crew. Tickets are $12 per child, and you can find this magical place at 821 W. Eastman Street in Lincoln Park.
Maggie Daley Park: We’ve mentioned this before, but if you haven’t gone to Maggie Daley Park yet you really must. Since summer has started pretty early for Chicago, there’s absolutely no excuse, get out there and see this urban treasure! Don’t be surprised if you end up having as much fun as the kids do.
Zoom Room: Another one of our favorite spots is the Chicago Children’s Museum. We thought we’d seen it all, but we were wrong! They have an entire exhibit on toy cars and tracks for the little (or big) adrenaline junkie in your life. The best part? They’ll be learning and will have no idea.
Parent and Toddler Yoga at the Zoo: A workout with a view! Thursday mornings at 10am you and your babe can get your yoga routine in at the beautiful Nature Boardwalk, right by the pond. This is ideal for kids in the 2-4 age range, and while there’s no children’s fee you do still have to register and pay for your ticket mamas, which is $20 per class.
The Kids’ Table’s Birthday Bash: This go-to for tiny foodies is celebrating their birthday, and what better way to do that than with pizza? Sounds good to us! All next week they are hosting classes focusing on pizza followed by a tasty sweet. With locations in both Lakeview and Wicker Park you can choose the class best for you, check out their calendar for full details.
Nashville
This awesome destination is a popular one right now, filled with great food, activities and of course, music! There’s so much to do here, check out some of our favorites for for visitors and locals alike.
Design an Album Cover at the Country Music Hall of Fame: Flex those creative muscles by letting your little use their imagination to create their own album cover at this must see museum! When they’re done let them look around and explore all the music legends that line their halls. This activity is included with a ticket, on Saturday, June 4th at 1pm so make sure you work it into your itinerary.
Cheekwood Art & Gardens: This kid friendly destination combines art and nature making it a relaxing option for your getaway. Take a stroll through their stunning gardens (there are several) and soak up the vast art collection. Kids will love the International Playhouses exhibit, it gives them a chance to stretch their legs. You can find this oasis at 1200 Forrest Park Drive in Nashville, adult tickets are $16 and kids 3-17 are $9.
