This is a busy weekend for activities in the Chi, which we love! Take full advantage and try some new food, listen to some tunes or hit the water, whatever is calling your littles (and you!). New York City dwellers, or those who are spending some time in the Big Apple will find that there’s no shortage of fun happenings in their city too!

Kidzapalooza at Lollapalooza: If you’ve got tickets to the Lolla fun and babes under 10, this is seriously sweet! Your general admission ticket gets up to two little ones under the age of 10 into the fest, and they get access to Kidzapalooza, a kid-friendly section packed with activities. Know that this is NOT a daycare, but a place where you and your babe can hang and watch kid-friendly shows and so much more. Kidzapalooza is open from 11am – 7pm today through Sunday in Grant Park.

Kids Eat Free at Wilde Bar & Restaurant: Have dinner at this Lakeview restaurant tonight before 6:30pm, where kids eat free beginning at 4:30pm! You read that right, the purchase of an adult entree gets your babe an item off the kids menu, which is ideal when you need a night off from cooking. We’d say that’s a pretty fabulous way to start the weekend! Wilde Bar & Restaurant is located at 3130 N. Broadway.

Art Making in the Galleries: Tomorrow from 1:30pm – 3:30pm kids can create their own masterpiece at the Art Institute! Babes under the age of 14 receive free admission to the museum (how great is that?!), so even if they aren’t in the mood to create, they can view the iconic art at the museum.

Jeff Fest in Jefferson Park: If your family is a fan of street fests, add this one to your list! Going on both tonight and all day tomorrow, five dollars grants you access to delicious food and fun for the whole family! You can find the fest at Jefferson Memorial Park (4822 N. Long Avenue).

Tall Ships at Navy Pier: This one is only here for a few days, so make sure you put this on your list this weekend! Your littles (ages 4 and up) will love seeing these larger than life ships in person at Navy Pier. Friday and Saturday you can go between 10am and 8pm, and on Sunday between 10am and 6pm. Tickets are required!

Reading of Someday a Bird Will Poop on You at Lillstreet Art Center: This free event at Lillstreet features the hilarious book by Chicagoan Susan Salvi, and is sure to bring the laughs! The fun begins at 10:30am and goes until 12pm at Lillstreet Loft (4437 N. Ravenswood Ave) and while it is free, registration is mandatory!

Free Opening of the Museum of Ice Cream: Unfortunately this museum is not a permanent fixture, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it while it’s around!  In fact, tickets have sold out but don’t get upset yet. Today you can get in for FREE, and with admission being first come first serve, you’ll want to get there early! The museum is located at 100 Gansevoort Street.

Water Gun Fight at the Great Lawn in Central Park: On Saturday from 2-5pm, join in on a HUGE water gun fight! Their site says this is best for kids 16 and up, so it’s an out-of-the-box option if you’ve got an older crew. Their event page has a full rundown on the rules and what to bring, get all the details right here!
