When I was younger I was obsessed with Care Bears and I absolutely love that they are popular again. It makes my heart happy to know that Zelda adores them as much as I did when I was a little girl. For those of you who appreciate Care Bears as much as we do, I urge you and your little ones to participate in Share Your Care Day on September 9th. This special day was created to celebrate 35 years of Care Bears and to inspire acts of kindness and good will throughout the world. It’s the perfect day to teach children about the importance of caring for others. To participate, simply do something nice for someone else – it’s that easy! I’ve included a couple of activities to get you in the spirit as well as a few other fun events. How are you going to #ShareYourCare this weekend?

Share Your Care Day at Land of Nod: To celebrate Share Your Care day, The Land of Nod teamed up with Changing the Face of Beauty, a charity dedicated to encouraging the inclusion of people with disabilities into advertising. There will be concerts, face painting, crafts and it is also the perfect time to check out the new goodies from LON’s Care Bear themed line! You need to RSVP beforehand here.
Illinois Resident Free Days at the Shedd: If you’re an Illinois resident, the Shedd Aquarium is free for the remainder of the month! Since it’s bound to be crazy due to this awesome deal, they recommend reserving your tickets online. After you reserve your tickets, simply present your valid Illinois state ID at the door.
PJ Masks Live: Zelda goes through phases where she’s obsessed with shows and not too long ago PJ Masks was one of them. I was driving by the Chicago Theater the other day and I noticed they are doing a live show at the end of the month! I’m letting you know now because even though the show isn’t until September 30th, it will sell out. Performances end on October 1st. Tickets range from $25 to $125, and you can get them here.
Care Bears Collection Launch at Dylan’s Candy Bar: Zelda’s love of Care Bears gives me all the nostalgic feels! To further celebrate Share Your Care Day, stop by Dylan’s Candy Bar on Michigan Avenue and dive right into their Care Bears collection. It launches on September 9th and I’m willing to bet it tastes as good as it looks!
Story Time at Lumen Optical Bucktown: On Saturday the 9th from 2-4pm, head over to Lumen Optical in Bucktown for a live reading of Aneeka and Juanito. This one is extra special because it’s being read by author and illustrator, Jackie Theibert!
Nature Nuts at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: The morning session of this biweekly class has already sold out, so don’t miss out on the afternoon availability. Kids between ages 2 and 3 who love the outdoors and everything that goes with it will have a blast in this class that begins on Monday, September 11th. If you miss this one, it occurs every other Monday until December 4th. To get more info or sign up, head over here and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.
