As if Jamaica couldn’t get more heavenly (see my previous post on the Hillside House), get ready to fall in love with yet another part of this glorious island. HUMMINGBIRDS! Who knew that these tiny little creatures are not only a resident species of Jamaica, but are also one of the most fascinating birds to be in contact with!
We had the opportunity to get up and personal with these birds at the Rocklands Bird Sanctuary. Home to thousands of birds from Jamaica and migrant birds who have flown thousands of miles to feed here, the sanctuary allows visitors a glimpse of these beautiful creatures. Managed by our new friend Fritz, Rocklands has been one of the most popular kids’ attractions for decades.
Ok, who am I kidding? I was probably way more giddy then Zelda, as my cool girl was laid back and relaxed while I shrieked with excitement! Oh come on, you too would freak out if a hummingbird flew into your palm and casually drank from a small bottle. This place was seriously Jamaica-me-crazy. Ok, there…I said it!
