What kid doesn’t love cheesy snacks? Skip the store bought Goldfish and Cheese-It crackers, and make your own at home! You just need 8oz. extra sharp cheddar cheese, 1 cup flour, 4 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons water, and 1 teaspoon salt. Begin by heating the oven to 350 degrees. Next, grate the cheese and add it to the food processor; pulse. Once it’s in tiny pieces, add in the flour, salt, and butter; combine. Add the water one teaspoon at a time, you don’t want to use too much water or your crackers won’t be crispy! Once combined, wrap the cheese dough in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes. Using a rolling pin, roll out the cheese between two pieces of parchment paper so that the dough is 1/8 inch thick. Use your favorite mini cookie cutters to create your cracker shapes. Place each shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and use a toothpick to poke a small hole in the center of each cracker. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crackers are crisp. Allow to cool and sprinkle with salt; serve to your little ones!
