I’ve always had an Achilles’ heel for sweets — Birthday Cake Oreos, Sour Punch Straws — you name it, I’ve loved it. I was never really into baking until I had Zelda. I quickly figured out that we could really connect in the kitchen and do our mother daughter thing. Baking is easiest because she can do all the pouring and no sharp objects are involved.
Although, we are still in the stage where she covers her ears when I turn on the electric mixer. To her, “it’s scary”. However, she has no problem sliding her tiny finger along the whisk to insert whatever we are making into her mouth once I’ve turned it off. We’ve had so much fun baking cinnamon rolls, cakes and cookies (especially when they are cat shaped). What memories will you make with your little one on World Baking Day?
