5 New Snacks We’re Crushing On

Raise your hand if you’re a snacker! (You can’t see me right now, but I am raising my hand high.) When it comes to food, snacking is my Achilles heel. I’m always trying new snacks and am constantly on the hunt for ways to snack healthier. It’s National Nutrition Month, which happens to coincide with a time when Zelda and I are traveling a lot (we are in Punta Cana right now and got back from Vegas a few weeks ago). Having food that I can shove in our travel bag is essential because snacks are a must when traveling with a toddler.

Additionally, it’s important for me to teach Zelda how to snack healthy. Her eating habits are something she will carry with her for her entire life, which is why I’ve been trying to educate her about National Nutrition Month. I want her to understand why it is important for us to make healthy food choices, especially at snack time! Over the last few weeks we’ve discovered some really yummy snacks and obviously, we had to share them with you. What are your go-to healthy snacks when you’re on the go? Tell us in the comments below!

A purple backpack filled with Junkless Granola Bars on Glitter and Bubbles.

Junkless Chewy Granola BarsThere are so many granola bars on the market filled with ingredients that claim to be natural but are not. Most if the time, if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it’s not a clever idea to eat it. Junkless Chewy Granola bars are made with all-natural ingredients, are minimally processed and don’t contain any artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. They’re also Non-GMO Project Verified and come in four yummy flavors: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, 100% REAL Strawberries and Cinnamon Roll. The best part? It doesn’t take up too much space in your bag.

A delicious popcorn snack from BabbleBoxx.

Jolly Time Simply Popped PopcornSometimes it’s the simple things and this popcorn nails it. There is a serious craveability factor here and I have yet to try a flavor I don’t like. However, I am partial to the Simply Popped — with just four basic ingredients, it’s the perfect snack when I’m craving something salty. Jolly Time has been around for over 100 years and is still family owned, and you can taste the difference. It’s also gluten-free!

Sprout Organic CrinklezIf you’re a regular reader than you know Zelda loves eating her greens. However, it can be challenging to always pack fresh veggies on the go. When I found Sprout Organic Crinklez it wasn’t surprising she quickly named Cheesy Spinach as her favorite. (They also come in Pumpkin Carrot.) These delicious little bites are gluten free, plant powered from chickpeas and don’t have any added sugar, colors, flavors or preservatives. There isn’t a drop of anything artificial! Both flavors contain carrots, spinach and beets, and the Pumpkin Carrot flavor is also dairy free and vegan. This snack is the ultimate find!

Zelda of Glitter and Bubbles sleeping with Kombucha.

Townshend’s Brew Dr. KombuchaI’ll be honest, until I tried this I didn’t really understand Kombucha. I heard all the buzz words like “live and active cultures”, “authentic” and “probiotic” but what did it all mean? In a nutshell, kombucha is fermented, carbonated tea and when it goes through fermentation it creates a mix of naturally occurring live and active cultures which include beneficial bacteria, yeasts and organic acids. These things help populate the gut with healthy flora which aids in digestion. Additionally, organic acids support joint health and improves the bioavailability of vitamins. Taking care of your gut is essential because your gut is connected to everything in your body! This 100% organic kombucha is our new go-to.

Nut Pods creamer for coffee on Glitter and Bubbles.

Nut Pods Dairy Free CreamerDairy can be very confusing, and I was all for trying something new in my coffee. I started using Nut Pods instead of milk creamer and I honestly think these dairy free creamers taste better. They come in Original, French Vanilla and Hazelnut and I feel good when I drink them because I know I’m supporting a fellow entrepreneur. Founder Madeline Haydon started her company with the help of Kickstarter and it quickly grew. Today, Nut Pods are available on Amazon and at Publix, Kroger and Wagmans. It’s also Whole 30 approved! The company has a super cool story, be sure to check it out here.
