This Southern Style appetizer will satisfy the palette of any crowd (I love serving this as a game day snack — football season is just around the corner!).  These flavorful sausage cheddar balls take about 45 minutes to make and cost under $20. To make them you need 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon pepper, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, 2 cups of shredded or grated cheddar, 1 pound of ground breakfast sausage, ½ of a large yellow onion, and 3 tablespoons of butter. Set your oven to 400 degrees.

Begin by finely chopping half of a large yellow onion. Set it to the side. On medium heat, in a small sauce pan, melt your butter. While the butter is melting combine the flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder in a large bowl. Mix in the cheddar.

Add the melted butter, sausage, and yellow onion. Use your hands to mix everything together until it is well combined.
