Candied Bacon

Looking for something extra special to spruce up a spring salad? Try Candied Bacon! This delicious add-on will give your salad the kick it needs (I mean it, it’s got some spice!). To make it you need ½ cup brown sugar, 8 slices of bacon, and ¼ teaspoon cayenne.

Heat the oven to 225 degrees. Mix the brown sugar and the cayenne together in a shallow bowl and coat the bacon, one piece at a time with this mixture. Shake off any excess. Place the bacon on a broiling pan and line the interior with foil (this will catch the grease so you don’t have messy clean-up afterwards).

Allow to bake for 2.5 hours, flipping every hour. At the end, turn the oven to broil, and allow to cook for 1-2 minutes, this will make the bacon crispy. Allow the bacon to cool and add to your favorite salad!
