FAQ

Curious about our main mama, Corri McFadden and muse, Zelda? We’re all about getting to know you as our readers and wanted to make sure you had the chance to know all about us! We get a ton of frequently asked questions from where our favorite places to shop are to what the inspiration was behind Zelda’s name.

  • What inspired the name Zelda?

Zelda is named after the famous fashion socialite Zelda Kaplan, an eccentric fashion icon, who made numerous philanthropic and humanitarian efforts – footsteps I’d love Zelda to follow in! She passed away at 95 in the front row of fashion week.

  • What’s one thing we don’t know about her?

Zelda is half Greek! She is also first generation on her Father’s side — I can’t wait until she gets old enough to immerse herself in the culture (and the delicious food).

  • Where are you from and where do you currently live?

I was born and raised in Kansas City and have been in Chicago for the last 14 years.

  • How old were you when you gave birth?

    I was 32.

  • Have you ever traveled with Zelda alone?

Yes! We conquered New York together and couldn’t have made it without the Orbit G3, which doubles as a stroller and car seat… A serious lifesaver when getting in and out of cabs!

  • How many times do you change Zelda’s clothes?

Once! (Yes, you read that right.) I always keep activities for the day in mind and then plan accordingly so she can play hard and maintain her sense of style.

  • What do you do with the pieces Zelda outgrows?

With my background in luxury consignment, it was a natural fit for me create a place to resell Zelda’s outgrown clothing. Instagram is a huge marketplace for resale items and was the perfect place to create  “Zelda’s Closet.”

  • Why did you start Glitter and Bubbles?

I wanted a place where Millennial Moms could be inspired in fashion and décor.  I wrote my first post when I was pregnant with Zelda and hit the ground running from there.

  • Do you take most of Zelda’s photos?

Yes, it’s one of my favorite things to do! I love documenting her life by capturing everyday moments.  Of course, I do plan some outings if I’m headed to a great location, but her natural reactions and candid moments are what I love to photograph most!

  • What’s your favorite moment captured of Zelda?

Hands down — her birth. It’s a precious and intimate time that you don’t want to forget as a Mom. Since I couldn’t be the one holding the camera, I had an amazing video made of my experience so I could remember and reflect back on every moment.
