New York Fashion Week, Back to School, Fall—all perfectly good reasons to go on a justified shopping trip! While I’m all about a good wardrobe refresher in celebration of these events, I’m also all about making better choices for society as I get older. So, why not combine the two?!
That’s exactly what we did at eDrop-Off this season to celebrate the rising philanthropic efforts in the fashion industry. So much good can be done with the profits of a pair of Louboutins! Even better—we’re auctioning off some of the coolest items personally donated by celebrities Oprah, Lea Michele, Alexa Chung, Christian Siriano, Giuliana Rancic, and Janie Bryant.
The auction launches Friday, September 4th at 6:00PM/CST and ends September 14th, which means you’ve got plenty of time to bid on an amazing piece owned by a celeb (HELLO!), and feel even better about doing it, too. 100% of each sale goes to the celebrity’s charity of choice and gets shipped off to the buyer with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the star. Total win!
From revolutionizing daytime TV with The Oprah Winfrey Show to producing an entire flourishing television network, Oprah Winfrey continues to make significant changes in the world by continuously garnering attention for philanthropic efforts. Proceeds from her personally donated Bulgari handbag and Charlotte Olympia Shoes will go directly to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, a foundation which strives to provide a nurturing educational environment for academically gifted girls who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
A television personality, model, writer, designer and fashion icon—What doesn’t Alexa Chung do?! This icon’s current projects include fronting campaigns for Longchamp and Nails Inc as well as Creative Director for Eyeko. She personally donated her Ralph Lauren Drawstring Handbag to benefit OxFam, a foundation that uses a six-sided strategy to overcome poverty including: a combination of rights-based sustainable development programs, public education, campaigns, advocacy, and humanitarian assistance in disasters and conflicts.
Christian Siriano’s designs have appearing in countless magazines and are being worn by the world’s leading ladies, from stars of film, to icons of music, and darlings of fashion, among others. Siriano personally donated a white Flower Printed Knit Tee and Leopard Print A-Line Skirt from his coveted collection with all proceeds being donated to ASPCA, an organization who cares for pet parents and pets, provides positive outcomes for at-risk animals, and serves victims of animal cruelty.
As the winner of the Fan Favorite award at the 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards, Giuliana Rancic is an entertainment journalist, fashion and beauty expert and television personality with over 3 million devoted followers on Twitter. She personally donated a pair of Louboutin Pumps and Herve Leger Heels to benefit Fab-U-Wish, and organization founded by Giuliana herself.
In the midst of her devastating diagnosis, Giuliana was able to retain her confidence and optimism by indulging in what made her look and feel good. She wanted to share that experience with other women battling breast cancer, and, together with The Pink Agenda, make their most fabulous wishes come true.
Janie Bryant is an Emmy® Award winning Costume Designer well known for her designs on AMC TV’s Mad Men and HBO’s Deadwood. Janie personally donated a pair of Louboutin Heels to benefit Heifer International, an organization that empowers families to turn hunger and poverty into hope and prosperity. Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty.
After her breakout performance in the hit Fox series, Glee, Lea Michele has also received Golden Globe, Emmy, and Teen Choice Award nominations, among many others. Her career skyrocketed and she has released several popular songs in her musical career.
Lea personally donated a collection of seven dresses, one worn in her music video “Cannonball” and another in “On My Way,” with 100% of her proceeds being donated to Step Up Women’s Network. Step Up inspires professional women to inspire teen girls through after-school and mentorship program by introducing girls to many women in various industries who’ve made different choices.
