What to Do This Weekend: Magic, Theater Week & More!

It’s been a whirlwind the past few weeks and I don’t see things slowing down anytime soon! My crew is having vacation withdrawals (Jamaica we miss you so!) and to combat it we are getting out and having some fun this weekend. Between Valentine’s Day and Theater Week in Chicago, there’s a ton to do. For NYC dwellers, we’ve got a few good ideas on tap for you too (if you need a little break from the hustle of fashion week!).

Paw Patrol Live: It’s Theater Week, so be sure to take advantage! If your babe is crazy about Paw Patrol (I know mine is), you do not want to miss this live show. Not to mention it’s at the Chicago Theater, which is beautiful in is self. There are shows on both Saturday and Sunday. Purchase tickets here

Valentine’s Dreamcatchers with Hatched Baby at Land of Nod: This pre-Valentine’s Day activity sounds like a blast! Happening tomorrow (the 11th), you and your crew can head to the The Land of Nod on North Avenue to make dreamcatchers with Hatched Baby. If you aren’t familiar with Hatched Baby, pop over to their website and check them out, I’m obsessed with this little tee! One more note, you do need to RSVP, which you can do here!

Once Upon a Castle: For littles who love to dress up and play pretend, take them to this castle themed adventure at the Chicago Children’s Museum. Admission is $14 per person, or you can go on Free Family Night which is on Thursdays from 5-8pm.

Hyperception: Illusion for the Senses at Lincoln Park Zoo: This one is for the older set (think 12 and up), and it looks pretty cool! Lincoln Park Zoo is hosting Jeanette Andrews, who is putting on an interactive show full of magical illusion! For the full rundown click here

Family Free Time at the Museum of Contemporary Art: Taking place tomorrow from 11am to 3pm, you and your family can explore this gem of a museum. Oh, and did I mention kids under 12 are free?

The Year I Didn’t Go To School at the Chicago Children’s Theater: Another Theater Week participant, The Chicago Children’s Theater in Gold Coast is putting on this fun show about two girls who go on an adventure with their parents. You can buy tickets here

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK

Take a little break from fashion week and explore with your babes in the Big Apple!

Start With Art at the Met: On Thursday the 16th beginning at 3:30pm, for one hour babes can flex those creative muscles at the Met. It’s for kids ages 3-6, and if you can’t make this one, it’s in their regular rotation of activities — perfect for busy families!

Eat at Sugar and Plumm: Located on the Upper West Side, keep this restaurant on tap for when your little foodie needs to get out of the house for a special treat. Their kid’s menu is awesome!
