Zelda and I are still recovering from her 3rd birthday party, but this weekend is packed and we won’t be slowing down! I know many of you are hitting up Lolla this weekend — be sure to read up on Kidzapalooza if you’re thinking about bringing your babes too. For those of you who aren’t into fests, there are plenty of low key activities happening around the city (think movies in the park, story time and more)!

Fireworks at Navy Pier: If you haven’t had the chance to catch the fireworks at Navy Pier, this is your official reminder! They happen on Wednesdays and Saturdays and you can view times here. I had forgotten how magical they were until we caught them from the the Swissotel at Zelda’s party — the views are stunning. You have one month to watch them!
Kidzapalooza at Lollapalooza: Did you know there’s an entire kids section at Lolla? I didn’t until last year, and if I had known we would have gone! Kids ages 10 and under get in free (adults still need tickets), and there’s crafts, activities and of course music! You can view a schedule of all the fun here, just note that you have to stay with your babes while they’re in Kidzapalooza, it’s not a drop off situation!
Movies in the Park: These go on in parks all over the city throughout the summer, but on Thursday, August 10th at Commercial Club Park in West Town, they are showing The Secret Life of Pets! It starts at 8:15pm and ends around 10pm.
Story Time at Barnes and Noble: On Saturday, August 5th the Gold Coast Barnes & Noble is hosting story time featuring “Peterrific” and “Aqualicious”. Both are tales of a brother and sister duo. The fun starts at 11am at 1130 North State Street!
Kids Portraits at The Land of Nod: Andrew Weeks will be at The Land of Nod on Saturday, August 12th from 10am to 12pm to take portraits of your babe and their favorite stuffed animal! This is a creative way to document them with their favorite friend and you will receive one digital image from the photographer! You need to RSVP and you can do so here!
Ballet Class with American Girl: Does your little love American Girl and dancing? If so, this is the perfect event for her! On Sunday, August 6th from 1:30pm to 6pm at Ballet Chicago, your babe can learn the basics of different dances and then head back to American Girl for some food. There will be a little time to shop too, but I’ll leave it up to you if you want to disclose that or not! It’s $47 per child (ages 6 and older) and $35 per adult. Check out the details here.
