The 4th of July has come and gone, and before you know it school will be starting! Take advantage of every moment and beautiful day, the city has some great things happening in a bunch of different neighborhoods.
This is a post by Glitter and Bubbles that features children's activities in Chicago and Dallas.
Kids Summer Theater at Lincoln Park Zoo: This is a fantastic free activity for a wide age range (think 3-9 years). This event features puppet and theater shows that last about 20 minutes, which is ideal for short attention spans! The show will take place on July 10th, with showtimes at 11am, 12pm and 1pm. After it wraps go visit some old favorites in the zoo or find some new animal friends!

Kids Fest at West Fest: This street fest takes place on Chicago Avenue between Damen and Wood, but for Kids Fest you’ll want to make your way to Wolcott Street. This fun kids space has activities for everyone, they can take in a variety of performances, ride a pony or play some games! Gotta love that a portion of proceeds from this festival goes to a local neighborhood school (Talcott Fine Arts and Museum Academy) too! West Fest takes place on Saturday, July 9th from 12pm-10pm with a $5 donation.

Cupcakes & Art Party at Imagination Children’s Academy: Also happening on Saturday, July 9th, this art activity is best for kids 3 years and up. Hosted by Heart Art Kidz, the class provides everything you need, just bring your babe! Each little one gets a cupcake too, what’s not to like? Imagination Children’s Academy is at 1144 W. Madison, and the class is from 11:30am to 12:30pm.

The SpongeBob Musical at The Oriental Theater: SpongeBob has made the jump from your TV screen to the stage! Whether your little one is a fan of the show or not, they’ll love seeing this on stage. If your crew has never been to a Broadway show this is a magical first show. There’s a performance on July 9th at both 2pm and 8pm. You can purchase tickets for $35 and up. July 10th is this show’s final running date!

The Gelato Social at Eataly: Summer means gelato! Eataly is having an event to celebrate this Italian treat, which gives attendees the opportunity to sample a ton of delicious flavors. This sweet event takes place on both Saturday, July 9th and Sunday, July 10th, with start times at 1pm and 3pm. Be sure you buy tickets for your desired time!

Roscoe Village Burger Festival at Clybourn and Diversey: Another mouthwatering street fest a bit further north, this also offers a packed kids section for the babes to play. They offer activities for both younger and older age sets, so no one is left out of the fun. Oh, and of course, there are burgers!
