What to Do This Weekend: Glow Jump, Shawnimals & a Trip to Tennessee!

If you don’t feel like battling the crowds at the Chicago Air and Water Show this weekend (hand raised), there’s plenty more to do! Make the most of summer before school starts by hitting up Movies in the Park, bringing your babes to the glow jump, learning about the solar eclipse and finding your kiddos favorite extracurricular!

Weekend Glow Jumps at Pump It Up: Zelda is obsessed with Pump It Up and honestly, I don’t know a kid who isn’t. On the weekends they do “Glow Jumps” for an hour and a half to let kids burn off energy. At $12 per child, I think that’s a pretty good deal! You’ll want to reserve ahead of time, which you can do here.

The Lego Batman Movie at Wrightwood Park: Tonight at 8pm you can catch a The Lego Batman Movie in Wrightwood Park! If Movies In The Park has been on your list and you just haven’t gotten to it, now is the time!

Shawnimals Pop Up at Land of Nod: The LON crew is hosting Shawn Smith, the creator of Shawnimals on Saturday, August 19th. The fun is from 10am to 12pm and will have Shawn’s creations to shop! You can RSVP here

Kidville Free Trial Class: Kidville in Lincoln Park has a ton of terrific activities for whatever your babe’s interests are. And if they’re all over the board, Kidville’s free trial class is the perfect opportunity to hone in on what they like best. They have multiple weeks available to test out a variety of activities and you can register starting Monday, August 21st at 9am.

Solar Eclipse Event at Chicago Children’s Museum: Solar eclipse talk is everywhere right now and we’re pretty excited about it! To celebrate the occasion, the Chicago Children’s Museum has an event that looks great for the whole crew! On Monday, August 21st at 11am, they’ll have demos and eclipse safe glasses. Just make sure you get there early so they don’t run out!

Emerald City Theater Fall Class Sampler: This is another class sampler, but for those who love theater. On Sunday, August 27th at the Menomonee Club in Lincoln Park your little can test the waters and see which class they love the most! This is best for kids between ages 3 1/2 and 13. Don’t forget to register to attend.

Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville is a prime eclipse viewing spot and will be super busy, but it’s definitely worth the trip if you haven’t been!

The Pharmacy: This super cute burger joint has an impressive menu that kids and adults will flip over! I love the old school feel of the place too.

The Parthenon: This awesome structure isn’t just beautiful, it happens to double as an art museum. Spend the afternoon here with your whole crew!
