Before we dive into this edition of Mini & Me, I wanted to take a moment to talk about International Women’s Day. In the age of social media it can be very easy to find negativity, even when we’re not looking for it. Uplifting and supporting each other is essential, and something that I make sure I exhibit and teach my daughter to do as well. I want to encourage Zelda to be supportive of her friends, I want her to invite people to sit with her, I want her to be strong, I want her to be kind, I want her to be confident and conscious of her actions, and that starts with us!  If Zelda wants to go to the moon, walk the runway and learn to speak 7 languages I will be there to support her and help her realize anything is possible. Girls Rule The World!
Ok, time for some fashion! My girlfriend sent me a snap of this wall, and I instantly fell in love with it. The diamonds and bright colors draw you in, and all the awesome detail keeps you there. You just can’t help but feel happy looking at it, and I love how the artist worked in some of our city’s gorgeous skyline. After I got the photo of that wall, I knew it was the perfect spot to rock my new Milly culottes. I’d been waiting for the perfect day to wear them, since it hasn’t been quite warm enough here yet, but the day finally arrived. They’re the perfect pop of color (dubbed Snorkel Blue by Pantone) if your wardrobe needs a little life breathed into it after the winter. Since the culottes sit up a little higher, I like to pair them with a top that has a bit of a boxy silhouette to balance out the shape. A graphic clutch with just the essentials is all I needed to finish off my look!
Over the past two weeks Zelda has started to have an opinion when getting dressed in the morning. This makes my heart flutter with excitement that she has taken such a love for clothing and accessories but was also quickly overtaken by fear when she insisted on wearing her First Cubs Game tee. While I love her appreciation for the Snorkel Blue theme this was obviously not going to work for so many reasons. The quick thinking Mom in me grabbed the plaid dress I wanted her to wear and stuffed it in an envelope and made it appear like a package that just arrived (she loves packages!) Obviously she was easily distracted and insisted on wearing her new dress! #MomWin Lets just say I spent the rest of the weekend strategically organizing her closet in an attempt to keep the fashion emergencies to a minimal.
